Today I’d like to share a story about how letting go of crap, and welcoming new energy recently transformed my life.
Last year around this time, I was sponsored by a label to create a duo folk album. Hooray!!!
One year later, after months of writing and recording, my duo partner suddenly backed out and I was told bye-bye. No way!!!
It was a major crap situation. I grieved the loss. I cried to my Mom about it. But then I was like, wait…wait.
👼 This all must be for the plot. 👼
I mean, countless wildly successful artists went through label drops before finally making it (Chappel Roan?? Case in point👩⚖️).
IN FACT, getting dropped must be a sign I’m on track. Right? Right?!
Despite the healthy dose of delusion, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was stuck. I asked for a sign, or a direction.
And what I got was Jeremy (artist name: Shimmer Island - check ‘em out).
Story of how meeting Jeremy literally made me cry:
Jeremy took this pic of me that afternoon - front porch sittin’, crying, but smiling because I felt hope in my heart again. I knew what I had to do. It was finally time to own my talent, take back my creative power, AND RISE FROM THE ASHES. HUZZAH!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Like the moon's cycles of renewal, what seemed like an ending became the most exciting beginning. And from that day on, Jeremy and I have been having such a blast co-writing together.
Today, I dropped a blooper reel on my IG featuring sweet, patient Jeremy giving me vocal direction on a song we co-wrote - it’s wholesome vibes.
For my gorgeous Substack community, I will leave you on a high note with this exclusive Part 2:
Thanks for being here. And remember, when something gets taken out of your life… it’s probably because you’re meant for greater. And it’s ALL. FOR. THE. PLOT.
